Our clients pay for the weight put on their heifers, therefore, we are paid by our performance. We charge $2.50 per kilogram of live-weight gain. This is reviewed annually. For Bilyana Grazing to produce a heifer weighing 600kg at two years of age, we need to average 0.78kg of weight gain per day. Seasonal conditions have a direct impact on weight gains, we avoid letting gains fall below 0.4kg/day. Given calves arrive at Bilyana averaging 130kg and we add 470kg in the time they are with us, this equates to approximately $1175 per animal. Animals are weighed at 8 week intervals with reports and accounts sent out shortly afterwards. |
